Provider Quality Ratings

The Tendo Quality ratings appear for some providers to help navigators incorporate both quality and cost into their decision making. The Tendo Quality rating currently incorporate measures for Patient Experience and Facility Quality.

  • Facility Quality utilizes the 2025 CMS Hospital Stars rating and the 2023 US News and World Report specialty rating.  Measures for a facility and specialty are incorporated into ratings for MDsave procedure bundles offered by providers at the facility.
  • Patient Experience Measures are a combination of:
    • MDsave and Care Connect patient survey ratings
    • Other online patient ratings systems such as Healthgrades and Vitals.

A minimum of ten online patient ratings from MDsave, Care Connect, or other online sources are required for inclusion into the Patient Experience rating.

The Overall Tendo Quality rating is based on a weighted average of Patient Experience and Facility Quality. If the Patient Experience rating is not available because of a lack of data, an average value is assumed. If a Facility Quality rating is not available, no Tendo Quality rating is reported. All underlying scores are normalized on a 0 to 100 point scale to compute the Tendo Quality rating, with scores below 25 designated as Below Average and those above 75 as Above Average. All others are rated as At Benchmark.

Currently providers in the following specialties may have a Tendo Quality rating:

  • Orthopedics
  • Gastroenterology
  • Spinal Surgery
  • Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)
  • Urology
  • Podiatry
  • Bariatrics
  • Vascular/Vein Surgery
  • Cardiology

Tendo’s product and data science teams are exploring incorporating additional data into the Tendo Quality rating. If there are particular elements of quality that you would like to see added, please reach out to your account manager with your feedback.

A Tendo Quality rating is not displayed for all providers. It is available only when there is sufficient data from the underlying data sources (e.g. CMS, US News and World Reports) for the facility and physician. When this data is not available, no quality rating is provided.

The Tendo Quality ratings can be activated or deactivated for each Care Connect partner based on their preferences. If you do not currently have access to the Tendo Quality ratings and would like them added, please reach out to your account manager.
